Goji + Fluoxetine
Fluoxetine brand names: Prozac, Sarafem.
Fluoxetine falls into 2 drug categories that Goji can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, goji berry might inhibit CYP2D6 and reduce metabolism of CYP2D6 substrates.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Goji interacts with whole categories of medication. Fluoxetine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Goji in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Fluoxetine
Fluoxetine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Goji interacts with.
In vitro research shows that goji berry juice inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP2D6 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with goji and your fluoxetine (Prozac). Your body partly relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to break down fluoxetine. In lab dish studies, goji juice seemed to slow that same enzyme down. In theory, that could let a bit more fluoxetine build up in your system, which might nudge up side effects like nausea, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, headache, or dry mouth.
The important part: this has only been seen in test tubes, never reported in actual people, so the real-world risk looks low. Eating goji berries as a food is very unlikely to matter. If you want to use concentrated goji supplements regularly, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Fluoxetine also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that goji berry tincture and juice inhibit CYP2C9 enzymes. Additionally, multiple case reports suggest that goji berry concentrated tea and juice inhibit the metabolism of warfarin, a CYP2C9 substrate. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP2C9 substrates.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the idea behind this one: concentrated goji (think strong teas, juices, or supplement extracts) may slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2C9, which is one of the pathways your body uses to clear fluoxetine. If that enzyme is blocked, fluoxetine could build up a bit more than usual. Fluoxetine is an active drug (not a prodrug), so higher levels mean a stronger effect and possibly more side effects like nausea, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, headache, or sweating.
That said, the evidence here is thin and mostly theoretical or from lab studies. The real-world case reports involved warfarin, not fluoxetine. Eating a normal handful of goji berries is unlikely to cause trouble. If you want to use concentrated goji products regularly, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Fluoxetine page
“Grapefruit is the surprise at the top of fluoxetine's (Prozac) supplement list. In large amounts it can stretch the QT interval, the electrical pause between heartbeats, and fluoxetine, a widely prescribed antidepressant, can do the same, raising the odds of a dangerous rhythm.”

- Anti-aging and well-being
- Blood sugar support
Goji berries are a nutritious fruit rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and plant polysaccharides, and they are safe for most people as a food. While they are popular for eye health, immune support, and general wellness, strong human evidence for most health claims is limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated goji supplements, especially if you take medications or are pregnant.

Fluoxetine Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Fluoxetine as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Goji — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
