Goji + Vincristine
Vincristine brand name: Vincasar.
Goji has a moderate interaction with Vincristine. Theoretically, goji berry might inhibit CYP3A4 and reduce metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Vincristine
Vincristine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Goji interacts with.
In vitro research shows that goji berry juice inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP3A4 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the idea behind this one. Your body clears vincristine mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dish studies, goji berry juice appears to slow that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, vincristine could break down more slowly and build up to higher levels than expected, which could mean more of its known side effects, things like numbness, tingling or weakness in the hands and feet (nerve toxicity), constipation, jaw pain, or low blood counts.
The honest part: this is theoretical. It comes from test-tube research, not from people taking goji and vincristine together. Still, since vincristine is a chemo drug with a narrow safety margin, I'd play it safe and run any goji supplement past your oncology team or pharmacist first. Eating a few berries is a smaller concern than concentrated extracts.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.
- CConsensus.
- DAnecdotal evidence.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Vincristine page
“Because vincristine (Vincasar) is chemotherapy, used against leukemias, lymphomas, and several other cancers, the interactions on this page deserve genuine caution, starting with the three rated major. Nearly all of these supplements change how the body clears vincristine, through the CYP3A4 enzyme or the P-glycoprotein transporter, wh…”

About Goji
What is Goji?
- General antioxidant support
- Eye health
- Immune support
- Anti-aging and well-being
- Blood sugar support
Goji berries are a nutritious fruit rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and plant polysaccharides, and they are safe for most people as a food. While they are popular for eye health, immune support, and general wellness, strong human evidence for most health claims is limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated goji supplements, especially if you take medications or are pregnant.
About Vincristine Injection
What Is Vincristine Injection Used For?
Brand name: Vincasar
Vincristine Sulfate Injection is approved to treat acute leukemia. It is also used as part of combination chemotherapy regimens for Hodgkin's disease, non-Hodgkin's malignant lymphomas, rhabdomyosarcoma (a soft-tissue cancer), neuroblastoma (a cancer of nerve tissue), and Wilms' tumor (a kidney cancer in children).
Because it works best alongside other cancer medicines, vincristine is almost always given as part of a multi-drug treatment plan rather than on its own.
