No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Indole-3-carbinol and Triamcinolone in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Indole-3-carbinol and Triamcinolone

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Triamcinolone and Indole-3-carbinol in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Indole-3-carbinol safety at a glance

Indole-3-carbinol overall Use caution Likely fine in food amounts, but supplement doses are less studied and should be used cautiously.
Pregnancy Avoid Not enough safety data and possible hormone effects, so concentrated supplements should be avoided.
Breastfeeding Avoid Safety has not been established, so supplement use is not recommended while breastfeeding.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Triamcinolone

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Triamcinolone is filed under 5 classifications — including corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, topical drugs. Indole-3-carbinol has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs (moderate), cytochrome p450 1a2 (cyp1a2) substrates (moderate) and estrogens (moderate) — and none of Triamcinolone’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Indole-3-carbinol and Triamcinolone May Share Several of the Same Side Effects

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so taking both can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do.

About Indole-3-carbinol

What is Indole-3-carbinol?

  • Estrogen and hormone balance support
  • Breast and cervical health
  • Prostate health
  • Antioxidant and 'detox' support
  • General cancer-prevention interest

Indole-3-carbinol (I3C) is a compound formed when you eat cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cabbage, and it is sold as a supplement mainly for hormone-related and cell-protective effects. Most human evidence is preliminary or comes from lab and animal studies, so it should not be relied on to prevent or treat any disease. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Brassicaceae · Derived from glucosinolates found in cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower) · Capsules, tablets, softgels; sometimes combined with or compared to diindolylmethane (DIM)

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Indole-3-carbinol is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Indole-3-carbinol record says about it on its own.

Indole-3-carbinol: dosing

There is no officially established or standardized dose for I3C. Different products and studies have used different amounts, and there is no agreed-upon 'best' dose. The safest approach is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed them. They can help you decide whether I3C is appropriate for you.

About Triamcinolone

What Is Triamcinolone Used For?

Brand names: Aristocort, Kenacort, Adcortyl Intra-articular / Intradermal, Kenalog Intra-articular / Intramuscular, Adcortyl in Orabase, Triesence

Triamcinolone is available in many forms — injections, creams, ointments, nasal sprays, dental pastes, and eye injections — each approved for specific uses. Injectable forms given into muscle are used when oral steroids aren't an option, covering severe allergies (like asthma flares, severe skin reactions, drug reactions, and serum sickness), serious skin diseases, certain endocrine (hormonal) disorders, and more.

Injections given directly into a joint (intra-articular) or soft tissue help with conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, gout flares, bursitis, and tendon inflammation. Injections into skin lesions (intralesional) treat conditions such as keloids, alopecia areata, and psoriatic plaques. Triesence (an ophthalmic injection) is specifically indicated for eye conditions like uveitis and temporal arteritis, and for visualization during eye surgery. Topical creams, ointments, lotions, and sprays relieve itching and inflammation from corticosteroid-responsive skin conditions. Dental paste forms (Oralone, Kourzeq) treat painful mouth sores from injury. Nasal sprays temporarily relieve hay fever and upper respiratory allergy symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, and congestion.
