Isradipine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Jequirity interacts with.

In vitro research shows that jequirity extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Theoretically, taking jequirity may inhibit the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.

Let me be upfront: the biggest issue with jequirity isn't this drug interaction at all. The seeds contain abrin, one of the most poisonous plant proteins known, and there's no safe or proven reason to take it. Please don't use it as a supplement.

On the interaction itself, your body clears isradipine using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In a lab dish, jequirity extract slowed that enzyme down. In theory, that could let isradipine build up, which might drop your blood pressure too much and cause dizziness, flushing, headache, or a faster heartbeat. But this is only test-tube evidence, rated minor and unlikely, so the real-world risk is uncertain. If you've taken jequirity, talk with your pharmacist or doctor right away.

Jequirity (Abrus precatorius) is a tropical plant whose bright red, black-tipped seeds contain abrin, one of the most toxic plant proteins known. Despite a long history in traditional medicine, the seeds are dangerously poisonous and there is no reliable evidence that it is safe or effective. It should not be used as a supplement or medicine.

Isradipine capsules are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Bringing blood pressure down reduces the strain on your heart and blood vessels over time.

It can be used on its own or alongside a thiazide-type diuretic (a water pill that also lowers blood pressure).
