First things first: jequirity isn't something you should be taking at all. Its seeds contain abrin, a poison in the same family as ricin, and there's no safe or proven medicinal use for it. So my real advice here is to steer clear of it completely, separate from any interaction question.

That said, here's the science you asked about. Lab (test tube) studies suggest jequirity can block an enzyme called CYP3A4, which helps process losartan. Losartan is partly turned into a more active form by your liver, so slowing that step could actually mean a bit less blood-pressure-lowering effect, not more. But this is only a theoretical, test-tube finding, rated unlikely and minor. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Jequirity (Abrus precatorius) is a tropical plant whose bright red, black-tipped seeds contain abrin, one of the most toxic plant proteins known. Despite a long history in traditional medicine, the seeds are dangerously poisonous and there is no reliable evidence that it is safe or effective. It should not be used as a supplement or medicine.

About Losartan

What Is Losartan Used For?

Brand name: Cozaar

Losartan tablets — available as branded Cozaar and several generic products — are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children 6 years and older. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Losartan tablets are also used to reduce the risk of stroke in people with high blood pressure who also have left ventricular hypertrophy (an enlarged left side of the heart). Note: evidence suggests this stroke-risk benefit may not apply to Black patients.

Losartan tablets are additionally approved to protect the kidneys in people with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and signs of kidney damage (diabetic nephropathy). Arbli, the oral suspension form, shares these same approved uses.
