Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Why this applies to Medroxyprogesterone Acetate
Medroxyprogesterone Acetate falls under Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates — the group Puravive interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear medroxyprogesterone. Puravive contains Panax ginseng, and the research on ginseng and this enzyme is genuinely mixed. In some studies it seemed to slow the enzyme, in others it actually sped it up. So we honestly can't predict which direction it would push your progestin levels.
If ginseng slowed clearance, you might see more progestin-type effects like bloating, breast tenderness, mood changes, or spotting. If it sped clearance up, the medicine could work a bit less reliably. The good news is this is rated a minor, theoretical interaction with weak evidence, so it's unlikely to cause real trouble. Still, since Puravive isn't well-studied, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Puravive
What is Puravive?
- Weight management
- Metabolism support
- Energy levels
- General wellness
- Stress and brain health
Puravive is a branded, multi-ingredient capsule marketed mainly for weight loss by claiming to boost brown fat activity, but there is no published, independent clinical research showing the product itself works for this purpose. Some individual ingredients have been studied in laboratory or small human studies, but those results do not prove the finished blend is safe or effective. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before trying it, especially if you have health conditions or take medications.
About Medroxyprogesterone
What Is Medroxyprogesterone Used For?
Brand names: Proclim, Cycrin, Curretab, Depo-Provera CI
Medroxyprogesterone is a progestin (a form of the hormone progesterone). The injections and tablets are used for different things.
- Injections (Depo-Provera CI and medroxyprogesterone acetate injectable suspension): prevent pregnancy in females of reproductive potential.
- Depo-SubQ Provera 104 (subcutaneous): prevents pregnancy and manages endometriosis-associated pain in females of reproductive age.
- Tablets (Provera and medroxyprogesterone acetate tablets): treat secondary amenorrhea (missed periods) and abnormal uterine bleeding due to hormonal imbalance when there is no underlying problem such as fibroids or uterine cancer. They also help prevent endometrial hyperplasia (overgrowth of the uterine lining) in postmenopausal women with a uterus who take daily oral conjugated estrogens.
The injections are not recommended for more than 2 years unless other options are considered inadequate.
