Puravive + Ciprofloxacin
Ciprofloxacin brand names: Cipro, Ciprobay, Cipro XR, Ciloxan, Cipro IV, and others.
Puravive has a minor interaction with Ciprofloxacin. Puravive contains quercetin. The simultaneous use of quercetin and OATP substrates (the drug in question in this interaction is reported to be an OATP substrate) may theoretically enhance their effects and adverse effects.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
Organic Anion-Transporting Polypeptide Substrates (Oatp)
Why this applies to Ciprofloxacin
Ciprofloxacin falls under Organic Anion-Transporting Polypeptide Substrates (Oatp) — the group Puravive interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: Puravive contains quercetin, a plant compound that can gently block a transporter (called OATP) your body uses to move certain drugs around. Ciprofloxacin is considered an OATP substrate, so in theory quercetin could slow its clearance a little and let slightly more linger in your system.
If that happened, you might notice a touch more of cipro's usual side effects, like nausea, an upset stomach, headache, or dizziness. But honestly, this is a minor interaction based mostly on lab work and one small study with a different drug, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since cipro can have its own tendon and nerve warnings, it's smart to run the combo past your pharmacist or doctor first.
What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

This page covers Puravive only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Ciprofloxacin page lists 163 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.

By severity: 8 major · 133 moderate · 22 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ciprofloxacin page
“A glass of apple or grapefruit juice can sharply cut how much ciprofloxacin (Cipro) your body absorbs, because these juices block a transporter the antibiotic needs to reach the bloodstream. That is one of eight major-rated risks among the 163 supplement and herbal ingredients on file, and I treat this list as a genuine warning rather…”

About Puravive
What is Puravive?
- Weight management
- Metabolism support
- Energy levels
- General wellness
- Stress and brain health
Puravive is a branded, multi-ingredient capsule marketed mainly for weight loss by claiming to boost brown fat activity, but there is no published, independent clinical research showing the product itself works for this purpose. Some individual ingredients have been studied in laboratory or small human studies, but those results do not prove the finished blend is safe or effective. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before trying it, especially if you have health conditions or take medications.
About Ciprofloxacin
What Is Ciprofloxacin Used For?
Brand names: Cipro, Ciprobay, Cipro XR, Ciloxan, Cipro IV, Otiprio
Ciprofloxacin belongs to a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. It's prescribed to treat bacterial infections in many parts of the body — including the urinary tract, skin, lungs, bones, joints, and digestive system. It's also used to protect against or treat anthrax and plague after exposure.
Because ciprofloxacin carries real risks, it's reserved for milder conditions like sinus infections, simple bladder infections, and flare-ups of chronic bronchitis only when there are no safer alternatives available.
