Puravive + Phenylpropanolamine
Phenylpropanolamine brand names: Dexatrim, Propagest, Revive Diet Aid, Mini Thin Diet Aid, Mini Slims, and others.
Puravive has a minor interaction with Phenylpropanolamine. Puravive contains Panax ginseng. Panax ginseng has demonstrated stimulant effects in some studies, which could potentially heighten the effects of other stimulant drugs (source: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8879982/).

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
Stimulant Drugs
Why this applies to Phenylpropanolamine
Phenylpropanolamine falls under Stimulant Drugs — the group Puravive interacts with.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the gist: Puravive contains Panax ginseng, which has shown mild stimulant-like effects in some studies. Phenylpropanolamine is itself a stimulant that was used to curb appetite and clear nasal congestion. When you put two stimulants together, there's a theoretical chance their effects could stack up a bit, meaning you might notice things like a faster heartbeat, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or a bump in blood pressure.
That said, the evidence here is weak and the odds of a real problem are low. Phenylpropanolamine isn't a prodrug, so this isn't about one ingredient activating the other. It's just two stimulants in the same boat. Since phenylpropanolamine was pulled from the U.S. market over stroke concerns, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining either product.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Phenylpropanolamine page
“Phenylpropanolamine (Dexatrim, Propagest) is a stimulant decongestant and diet aid that raises blood pressure on its own, so I read its supplement interactions with real vigilance. Of the 62 ingredients on file, 44 are stimulants themselves, and stacking them can push heart rate and blood pressure into risky territory.”

About Puravive
What is Puravive?
- Weight management
- Metabolism support
- Energy levels
- General wellness
- Stress and brain health
Puravive is a branded, multi-ingredient capsule marketed mainly for weight loss by claiming to boost brown fat activity, but there is no published, independent clinical research showing the product itself works for this purpose. Some individual ingredients have been studied in laboratory or small human studies, but those results do not prove the finished blend is safe or effective. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before trying it, especially if you have health conditions or take medications.
