Puravive + Methotrexate
Methotrexate brand names: Rheumatrex, Otrexup, Rasuvo, Reditrex.
Puravive has a minor interaction with Methotrexate. Puravive contains quercetin. The simultaneous use of quercetin and OATP substrates (the drug in question in this interaction is reported to be an OATP substrate) may theoretically enhance their effects and adverse effects.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
Organic Anion-Transporting Polypeptide Substrates (Oatp)
Why this applies to Methotrexate
Methotrexate falls under Organic Anion-Transporting Polypeptide Substrates (Oatp) — the group Puravive interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Puravive and methotrexate: one of Puravive's ingredients, quercetin, may block a transporter (called OATP) that helps move certain drugs around your body. In a lab setting, quercetin slowed the uptake of similar drugs, and in one small human study it modestly raised levels of a different medication. The thinking is that methotrexate could build up a little more than usual if you take both together.
This is theoretical and rated minor, so I don't want to alarm you. But methotrexate is a drug where even small shifts can matter, with side effects like mouth sores, nausea, fatigue, low blood counts, or liver irritation. Before adding Puravive, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Methotrexate page
“The liver is where methotrexate and supplements clash most. Methotrexate (Rheumatrex, Otrexup, Rasuvo), used for rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and certain cancers, can strain the liver on its own, and 38 of the 82 interacting ingredients on this list add liver risk of their own, alcohol included, which makes this a list to approach…”

About Puravive
What is Puravive?
- Weight management
- Metabolism support
- Energy levels
- General wellness
- Stress and brain health
Puravive is a branded, multi-ingredient capsule marketed mainly for weight loss by claiming to boost brown fat activity, but there is no published, independent clinical research showing the product itself works for this purpose. Some individual ingredients have been studied in laboratory or small human studies, but those results do not prove the finished blend is safe or effective. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before trying it, especially if you have health conditions or take medications.
About Methotrexate
What Is Methotrexate Used For?
Brand names: Rheumatrex, Otrexup, Rasuvo, Reditrex
Methotrexate treats a wide range of serious conditions. In cancer care, it is used for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, osteosarcoma, breast cancer, head and neck cancer, and gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (a rare tumor related to pregnancy). It is also used to prevent and treat meningeal leukemia (cancer affecting the lining of the brain and spinal cord).
Outside of cancer, methotrexate is prescribed for adults with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), children with polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (a form of childhood arthritis), and adults with severe psoriasis that hasn't responded well to other treatments.

Methotrexate Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Methotrexate as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Puravive — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
