Here's the gist: Puravive contains Panax ginseng, and one ingredient concern is that ginseng may slightly stretch out the heart's electrical reset time (called the QT interval). Sumatriptan can also nudge that same rhythm in some people. When two things tug in the same direction, the worry is an additive effect that could, in rare cases, raise the chance of an irregular heartbeat.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. Studies on ginseng and QT actually conflict, with short-term use showing a small change and longer use showing none. This isn't about sumatriptan building up in your blood, it's a theoretical heart-rhythm overlap. For most healthy people it's likely minor, but if you have a known heart condition or take other QT drugs, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Sumatriptan Used For?

Brand name: Tosymra

Sumatriptan treats acute migraine attacks — with or without aura — in adults. It is available as tablets, nasal spray, nasal capsule, and subcutaneous injection, and is used to stop a migraine once it has started, not to prevent future attacks.

The subcutaneous injection forms — including Imitrex injection, Sumatriptan injection, and Sumatriptan Succinate injection — are also approved to treat acute cluster headache in adults. Zembrace SymTouch (subcutaneous injection) is approved for acute migraine only. Tablets and nasal forms are not established for cluster headache.
