Here's the simple version: nateglinide (Starlix) works by nudging your pancreas to release insulin so your blood sugar comes down, especially around meals. Sida cordifolia naturally contains ephedrine, a stimulant that tends to push blood sugar in the opposite direction, upward. So taking the two together can work against each other and make your diabetes harder to control.

In real life that might look like higher readings on your glucose meter even though you're taking your nateglinide as usual. This concern is partly theoretical and based on limited research, so don't panic, but please don't add a Sida cordifolia product without checking with your pharmacist or doctor first. Beyond the sugar issue, the ephedrine in it can also raise heart rate and blood pressure.

What Is Nateglinide Used For?

Nateglinide tablets are used to help improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is always used together with diet and exercise — not as a replacement for them.

Nateglinide is not for type 1 diabetes, and it is not used to treat diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication where the blood becomes dangerously acidic).
