Here's the concern with pairing Sida cordifolia with panobinostat (Farydak). Panobinostat is already known to affect your heart's electrical rhythm, something doctors call QT prolongation. On its own, this is a real and serious risk with this cancer medicine, which is why your team watches your heart closely while you're on it.

Sida cordifolia naturally contains ephedrine, a stimulant that can also stretch out that same QT interval. Stacking the two together may add up and raise the chance of a dangerous, irregular heartbeat. The evidence here is partly theoretical, but the underlying risk is taken seriously. This isn't about activating or blocking the drug, it's an additive heart effect. Please don't change anything on your own. Talk with your oncologist or pharmacist before using this supplement.

What Is Panobinostat Used For?

  • Panobinostat is used in combination with bortezomib (Velcade) and dexamethasone to treat people with multiple myeloma (a type of cancer of the bone marrow) who have already been treated two other medications, including bortezomib (Velcade). Panobinostat is in a class of medications called histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors. It works by killing cancer cells.
