Aspirin, Butalbital, Caffeine, Codeine Phosphate falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Tianeptine interacts with.

Tianeptine has sedative effects; high doses may have additive effects with other CNS depressants.
Higher doses of tianeptine have opioid like effects and may have additive effects with other sedative drugs. In one case report, a 42-year-old male presented with respiratory depression and aspiration pneumonia due to concomitant use of high-dose tianeptine and alprazolam.

Here's the concern with combining tianeptine and Fiorinal with Codeine. This medication already carries two ingredients that slow down your brain and breathing: butalbital (a barbiturate sedative) and codeine (an opioid). Tianeptine, especially at the high doses found in those gas station products, acts a lot like an opioid itself. Stacking these together can pile on the sedation, so you may feel very drowsy, foggy, or dizzy, and in a worst case your breathing can slow to a dangerous level.

This warning is based on how these drugs work plus a real case where someone combined high-dose tianeptine with a sedative and ended up with serious breathing trouble. I'd strongly urge you not to use over-the-counter tianeptine at all, and please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before mixing anything with this medicine.

Chronic use of aspirin might increase the levels and clinical effects of tianeptine.
Aspirin is converted to salicylic acid in the body. In vitro research shows that salicylic acid binds to the same protein sites as tianeptine, displacing protein-bound tianeptine and leading to higher levels of tianeptine in the blood.

Let's start with the big picture: I'd strongly steer you away from over-the-counter tianeptine in the first place. It isn't FDA approved here, it can act like an opioid at higher doses, and your Fiorinal with Codeine already contains its own opioid (codeine) plus a barbiturate (butalbital). Stacking two opioid-like substances raises the real risk of heavy sedation, slowed breathing, and overdose.

On top of that, the aspirin in your combo product may matter. Lab studies (not human trials) suggest that with regular aspirin use, salicylic acid can bump tianeptine off its protein binding sites, leaving more free tianeptine floating in your blood and stronger effects. This evidence is weak and theoretical, but given the serious downsides, please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing these.
