Here's the thing to know about pairing Umckaloabo with pazopanib (Votrient). In lab studies, this geranium root seems to gently rev up the immune system. Pazopanib works by slowing cancer growth, and it can also quiet the immune system somewhat, so the worry is that an immune-stimulating herb could theoretically work against that and nudge your therapy's effectiveness down a notch.

I want to be honest: this concern comes only from test-tube research, not from real patients, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, with a serious cancer medicine like this one, I wouldn't add Umckaloabo on your own. Please run it by your oncologist or pharmacist first so nothing interferes with how well your treatment is working.

Theoretically, Pelargonium sidoides might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs.
Pelargonium sidoides contains coumarin, which may reduce platelet aggregation. However, in animal models, Pelargonium sidoides extract does not appear to inhibit coagulation or interact with warfarin. This interaction has not been documented in humans.

Here's the gist: Umckaloabo (Pelargonium sidoides) contains small amounts of coumarin-type compounds that might, in theory, make platelets a little less sticky. Pazopanib (Votrient) isn't an anticoagulant itself, but it does carry its own bleeding risk as a cancer kinase inhibitor. The concern is simply that stacking two things that could each nudge bleeding upward might add up.

The honest part: this is purely theoretical. It's based on lab and animal work, not real cases in people, and animal studies didn't actually show meaningful blood-thinning effects. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, with a serious medication like pazopanib, please run any supplement past your oncologist or pharmacist first, and watch for unusual bruising or bleeding.

What Is Pazopanib Used For?

Brand name: Votrient

Pazopanib tablets — sold as the brand Votrient and as generic pazopanib — are used to treat two types of advanced cancer in adults: advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC), the most common form of kidney cancer, and advanced soft tissue sarcoma (STS) in patients who have already received prior chemotherapy.

Important limitation: Pazopanib has not been shown to work in adipocytic soft tissue sarcoma (a subtype involving fat cells) or in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), so it is not used for those cancers.
