ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Insulin Glulisine (rDNA)
Insulin Glulisine (rDNA) falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Ashwagandha interacts with.
There is preliminary clinical evidence suggesting that ashwagandha might lower blood glucose levels. Theoretically, ashwagandha might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Apidra (insulin glulisine) is a fast-acting mealtime insulin that lowers your blood sugar within minutes of injecting it. Here's the thing to keep in mind: some early research hints that ashwagandha may also gently nudge blood sugar downward. When you stack that effect on top of your insulin, the two could add up and push your sugar lower than you intended.
That means watching for the usual signs of hypoglycemia with this insulin, things like shakiness, sweating, a racing heart, dizziness, confusion, or sudden hunger. To be clear, this is mostly theoretical and based on limited evidence, so it's not a reason to panic. Still, since insulin is powerful, even a small extra dip matters. If you'd like to try ashwagandha, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your readings.

About Insulin Glulisine (rDNA origin) Injection
What Is Insulin Glulisine (rDNA origin) Injection Used For?
Brand name: Apidra
Apidra and Apidra SoloStar are used to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in adult and pediatric patients with diabetes mellitus. This includes both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Because insulin glulisine works very quickly, it is typically used around mealtimes to control the rise in blood sugar that happens after eating. It is generally used alongside a longer-acting insulin as part of a complete diabetes regimen.
