Linezolid falls under Serotonergic Drugs — the group Ashwagandha interacts with.

Some animal studies have reported that ashwagandha can enhance serotonergic transmission by altering certain serotonin (5-HT) receptors. However, there is no evidence to suggest that ashwagandha increases the risk of serotonin-related effects, and there have been no published case reports of serotonin syndrome when combined with other serotonergic drugs. Nevertheless, due to the lack of extensive studies on the matter and the fact that ashwagandha appears to affect serotonergic pathways, it would be prudent to exercise caution when combining it with drugs that affect serotonin. Here's the thing about linezolid that surprises a lot of people: besides being an antibiotic, it also acts as a mild MAO inhibitor, which means it raises serotonin levels in the body. Ashwagandha may gently nudge serotonin activity too, based mostly on animal research. Put them together and there's a theoretical chance of too much serotonin, which can show up as agitation, a racing heart, sweating, shakiness, or feeling flushed.

I want to be honest with you though, this is rated minor and there are no real case reports of it actually happening. The evidence is thin. Still, since linezolid is already known for serotonin-related cautions, I'd loop in your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two, especially if you take other serotonin medicines.

Ashwagandha is an Ayurvedic herb most often taken to help with stress, anxiety, and sleep, and some small studies suggest it may help, though the evidence is still limited. About Linezolid

What Is Linezolid Used For?

Brand names: Zyvox, Zyvox Injection

Linezolid — available as Zyvox and in generic forms — is used to treat infections caused by certain drug-resistant Gram-positive bacteria. It is approved for adults and children for nosocomial pneumonia (hospital-acquired lung infection), community-acquired pneumonia, complicated skin and skin structure infections (including diabetic foot infections, but only when bone infection is not also present), uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections, and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium infections.

It is important to know that linezolid does not work against Gram-negative bacteria. If a Gram-negative infection is also present or suspected, a separate antibiotic must be started right away. Linezolid should only be used for infections that are confirmed or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria, to help prevent antibiotic resistance.
