Amlodipine Benzoate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bacopa interacts with.

Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP3A4 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence suggests that bacopa extract can moderately and competitively inhibit CYP3A4, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.

Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear amlodipine out of your system. In lab studies, bacopa may slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened in real life, amlodipine could hang around longer and build up, which might make its blood-pressure-lowering effects a little stronger than expected. With amlodipine, that could show up as swollen ankles, dizziness, flushing, headache, or feeling lightheaded when you stand.

Here's the reassuring part: this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube research, and the studies actually disagree on whether bacopa affects this enzyme enough to matter. Amlodipine is not a prodrug, so the direction holds, but a real-world problem is unlikely. Still, if you take both, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on your blood pressure.

Bacopa is an Ayurvedic herb most often used for memory and thinking. What Is Amlodipine Used For?

Brand name: Katerzia

Amlodipine treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children aged 6–17 years. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Sdamlo (oral solution) is specifically indicated for hypertension in adults and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older.

Amlodipine also treats coronary artery disease in adults, including chronic stable angina (chest pain with exertion), vasospastic angina (Prinzmetal's or variant angina, caused by coronary artery spasms), and documented coronary artery disease in patients without heart failure or significantly reduced heart pumping function.
