Animal studies suggest that cajeput oil might have hypoglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking cajeput oil with antidiabetes drugs could increase the risk for additive hypoglycemia. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, and others.

Here's the gist for your Toujeo (insulin glargine): this is a long-acting basal insulin that lowers your blood sugar around the clock. The concern with cajeput oil is that, in animal lab studies, it has shown a possible blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. Stack that on top of your insulin and, in theory, your sugar could dip lower than expected, which we call additive hypoglycemia.

I want to be honest about how thin the evidence is here. This comes only from lab and animal work, not real people, so it's more of a 'keep an eye out' than an alarm. If you do use cajeput oil, watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or confusion, and check your glucose a bit more often. Loop in your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
