Rifampin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Corydalis Yanhusuo interacts with.

Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might increase serum levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro research and preliminary clinical research show that berberine moderately inhibits CYP3A4. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also inhibit CYP3A4.

Here's the gist for rifampin: Corydalis contains berberine, which lab and early human studies suggest can mildly slow down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Rifampin is partly handled by that enzyme, so in theory, taking the two together could nudge rifampin levels up a bit. Higher levels could mean a greater chance of side effects like stomach upset, nausea, or liver irritation.

I'll be honest with you though, this one is theoretical, based on how these compounds behave in the lab, not on solid real-world cases. On top of that, rifampin is a powerful enzyme booster itself and may simply override any small effect from the herb. Still, because rifampin can be hard on the liver, I'd run this combo past your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Rifampin

What Is Rifampin Used For?

Brand names: Rifadin, Rimactane, Rifadin Injection, Rofactor

Rifampin treats all forms of tuberculosis (TB). It is almost always used in combination with other antibiotics — your doctor will build a multi-drug regimen tailored to your infection. Treatment usually runs for at least 6 months total.

Rifampin is also used to clear Neisseria meningitidis bacteria from the nose and throat in people who carry the germ without being sick themselves. It is not used to treat active meningococcal disease. The intravenous (IV) forms — Rifadin IV, Rifadin IV NOVAPLUS, and the injectable form of Rifampin — are specifically indicated when a patient cannot take the drug by mouth.
