Goji + Vortioxetine
Vortioxetine brand names: Trintellix, Brintellix, Sehippy.
Goji has a moderate interaction with Vortioxetine. Theoretically, goji berry might inhibit CYP2D6 and reduce metabolism of CYP2D6 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Vortioxetine
Vortioxetine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Goji interacts with.
In vitro research shows that goji berry juice inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP2D6 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for Trintellix (vortioxetine): your liver leans heavily on an enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear this antidepressant out of your system. Goji berry, at least in test-tube studies, appears to slow that same enzyme down. If it did the same thing in your body, vortioxetine could build up a bit more than expected, which might mean stronger side effects like nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, or feeling unusually sleepy.
The important thing is that this is only theoretical right now. It has shown up in lab research but has never actually been reported in real people, and eating goji berries as food is very different from taking concentrated goji supplements. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but if you're planning to take goji capsules or large daily amounts, run it past your pharmacist or doctor first.

“Vortioxetine (Trintellix) is an antidepressant that works through serotonin, which makes this a list to treat with real care. Two of the 100 ingredients on file rate major: lithium, which can add to the serotonin effect and raise the risk of serotonin syndrome (a dangerous excess of serotonin), and activated charcoal, which can soak up…”

About Goji
What is Goji?
- General antioxidant support
- Eye health
- Immune support
- Anti-aging and well-being
- Blood sugar support
Goji berries are a nutritious fruit rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and plant polysaccharides, and they are safe for most people as a food. While they are popular for eye health, immune support, and general wellness, strong human evidence for most health claims is limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated goji supplements, especially if you take medications or are pregnant.
About Vortioxetine
What Is Vortioxetine Used For?
Brand names: Trintellix, Brintellix, Sehippy
Trintellix (vortioxetine) is FDA-approved to treat major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults. MDD is more than ordinary sadness — it is a persistent low mood that interferes with daily life and requires medical treatment.
Trintellix is not approved for use in children or teenagers. If you or a family member are wondering about treatment for depression in someone under 18, talk with a healthcare provider about what options are studied and approved for that age group.

Vortioxetine Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Vortioxetine as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Goji — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
