Colchicine, Probenecid falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Jequirity interacts with.

In vitro research shows that jequirity extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Theoretically, taking jequirity may inhibit the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.

First things first: jequirity seeds are genuinely poisonous and aren't something you should ever take as a supplement, so the safest move here is simply not using it at all. That alone makes this interaction one you won't run into in real life.

On the pharmacology side, the concern is that lab studies suggest jequirity might block CYP3A4, an enzyme your body uses to clear colchicine. In theory, slowing that breakdown could let colchicine build up, and colchicine is a drug where too much matters. Extra levels can mean stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, and in serious cases muscle or blood problems. But this is only test-tube data, not human evidence, so I'd call it theoretical. If you have real questions about colchicine, please check with your pharmacist or doctor.

Jequirity (Abrus precatorius) is a tropical plant whose bright red, black-tipped seeds contain abrin, one of the most toxic plant proteins known.
