Tadalafil falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Jequirity interacts with.

In vitro research shows that jequirity extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Theoretically, taking jequirity may inhibit the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.

First things first: jequirity isn't really a supplement you should be using at all. Its seeds contain abrin, a toxin in the same family as ricin, so the safety concern here goes far beyond any drug interaction.

On the interaction itself, Tadalafil (Cialis) is cleared from your body mainly by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest jequirity can slow that enzyme down. In theory, that means tadalafil could build up and its effects (and side effects) might be stronger, things like headache, flushing, stuffy nose, back pain, or a bigger drop in blood pressure. But this is only a test-tube finding, not something shown in real people, so the actual risk is low. Either way, please don't take jequirity, and check with your pharmacist or doctor about anything you add.

Jequirity (Abrus precatorius) is a tropical plant whose bright red, black-tipped seeds contain abrin, one of the most toxic plant proteins known. Despite a long history in traditional medicine, the seeds are dangerously poisonous and there is no reliable evidence that it is safe or effective. It should not be used as a supplement or medicine.

About Tadalafil

What Is Tadalafil Used For?

Brand names: Cialis, Tadliq

Tadalafil tablets (including Cialis and generic tadalafil) are used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH — an enlarged prostate), or both conditions together. When used with the drug finasteride to start BPH treatment, this combination is recommended for up to 26 weeks.

Adcirca, Alyq (tablets), and Tadliq (oral suspension) are indicated specifically for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH — high blood pressure in the lungs), to improve the ability to exercise.
