Melatonin + Canagliflozin
Canagliflozin brand name: Invokana.
Melatonin has a moderate interaction with Canagliflozin. Theoretically, taking melatonin with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Canagliflozin
Canagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Melatonin interacts with.
Some clinical research shows that melatonin reduces levels of fasting blood glucose and improves glycemic control. However, other research suggests that melatonin might impair glucose utilization and increase insulin resistance, while other research has found no effect on glucose levels. Until more is known, use melatonin cautiously in combination with antidiabetes drugs.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the honest picture with canagliflozin (Invokana) and melatonin: the two don't fight each other in your liver, so this isn't about one slowing the breakdown of the other. The concern is simpler. Melatonin may nudge your blood sugar, but the research is genuinely mixed. Some studies show it lowers fasting glucose, others suggest it could raise it or do nothing at all. That's why this is rated as mostly theoretical.
If melatonin does lower your sugar a bit on top of canagliflozin, you could notice low-blood-sugar signs like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or confusion, though canagliflozin alone rarely causes that. You don't need to stop either one. Just check your sugars as usual and let your pharmacist or doctor know if you see new lows or unusual highs.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Canagliflozin page
“Canagliflozin (Invokana) lowers blood sugar, and that is precisely why this list deserves genuine care. Nearly every ingredient on it works on glucose one way or another: most can push it too low when stacked with the drug, while a few, niacin among them, raise it and work against the medicine.”

About Melatonin
What is Melatonin?
- Trouble falling asleep (insomnia)
- Jet lag
- Delayed sleep phase syndrome
- Non-24-hour sleep-wake disorder
- Shift-work sleep problems
- Sleep problems in some children with conditions like autism or ADHD
Melatonin is a hormone your body makes naturally to help control your sleep-wake cycle, and the supplement form is widely used to help with sleep timing problems and jet lag. The evidence is strongest for certain circadian (body-clock) disorders and is more mixed for everyday insomnia. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially for children or during pregnancy.
About Canagliflozin
What Is Canagliflozin Used For?
Brand name: Invokana
Invokana (canagliflozin) is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes. It is not for type 1 diabetes.
In adults with type 2 diabetes, Invokana is also used to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death in those with established cardiovascular disease, and to reduce the risk of serious kidney complications — including end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization for heart failure — in those with diabetic kidney disease and high levels of protein in the urine.

Canagliflozin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Canagliflozin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Melatonin — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
