Estrogen brand name: Estrogen.
Estrogen falls into 2 drug categories that Oolong Tea can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, concomitant use might increase the levels and adverse effects of the caffeine in oolong tea.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Oolong Tea interacts with whole categories of medication. Estrogen falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Oolong Tea in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) INHIBITORS
1 of 2Why this applies to Estrogen
Estrogen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) INHIBITORS — the group Oolong Tea interacts with.
Oolong tea contains caffeine. Caffeine is metabolized by cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2),. Theoretically, drugs that inhibit CYP1A2 may decrease the clearance rate of caffeine from oolong tea and increase caffeine levels.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's a twist with this pairing: the concern isn't about your estrogen getting too strong or too weak. Instead, it's about the caffeine in your oolong tea. Estrogen can gently slow down the liver enzyme (called CYP1A2) that normally clears caffeine from your body. When that enzyme works slower, caffeine can hang around longer and build up a bit.
In real life, that might mean the tea feels stronger than usual: a little more jittery, a racing or pounding heart, trouble sleeping, or feeling wired. This is only a theoretical concern based on how these compounds behave, not something proven to cause problems for most people. If you're caffeine-sensitive or notice these effects, just ease back on the tea and check with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

ESTROGENS
2 of 2Estrogen also falls under ESTROGENS.
Oolong tea contains caffeine. Estrogen inhibits caffeine metabolism.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the twist with this pairing: it's actually your estrogen that changes how your body handles the caffeine in oolong tea, not the other way around. Estrogen slows down the liver enzyme that clears caffeine, so the caffeine tends to hang around longer and build up a bit more than usual.
In real life, that can mean the caffeine hits harder: think jitteriness, a racing or pounding heart, trouble sleeping, or feeling on edge. A cup or two of oolong probably won't be a big deal for most people, but several cups (or caffeine pills on top) could add up. If you notice these effects, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
