ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Chlorpropamide
Chlorpropamide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Oolong Tea interacts with.
Oolong tea contains caffeine. Reports claim that caffeine might increase or decrease blood glucose levels.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the gist with chlorpropamide (Diabinese) and oolong tea. This pairing lands as a minor, unlikely interaction, and the evidence behind it is on the weaker side. Chlorpropamide isn't a prodrug, so the tea isn't changing how it's broken down. Instead, the concern is the caffeine in oolong tea, which has been reported to nudge blood sugar either up or down depending on the person.
Because chlorpropamide works by pushing your pancreas to release more insulin, anything that shifts your blood sugar could, in theory, make readings a little less predictable. Realistically, a cup or two of oolong is unlikely to cause trouble. The bigger thing to watch for is low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion). If you drink a lot of caffeinated tea, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your numbers.

About Oolong Tea
What is Oolong Tea?
- Weight management
- Mental alertness and energy
- Heart health
- Blood sugar support
- Antioxidant support
Oolong tea is a traditional partially oxidized tea made from the same plant as green and black tea, and it provides caffeine and plant antioxidants. As a beverage it is generally considered safe for most healthy adults in moderate amounts, but evidence for specific health benefits like weight loss or blood sugar control is limited. If you have heart, blood pressure, or caffeine-sensitivity concerns, talk with your pharmacist or doctor.

Chlorpropamide Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Chlorpropamide as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Oolong Tea — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
