Effient falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Schizonepeta interacts with.

Animal research suggests that schizonepetin, a monoterpene constituent of schizonepeta, induces cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4. Theoretically, schizonepeta might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Some substrates of CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the wrinkle with Effient (prasugrel): it's a prodrug. That means it shows up inactive and your body has to switch it on, and enzymes like CYP3A4 help do that activation. So unlike most medicines, where an enzyme booster would weaken the drug, with Effient a CYP3A4 booster could actually create more of the active blood-thinning form. In theory, that might tip you toward more bruising or bleeding, like nosebleeds or bleeding that's slow to stop.

That said, this is based only on animal and lab research showing Schizonepeta may speed up CYP3A4, so it's quite theoretical. Since Effient is a serious clot-prevention medicine, don't guess. Just run any Schizonepeta product past your pharmacist or cardiologist first.

About Prasugrel

What Is Prasugrel Used For?

Brand name: Prasugrel

Prasugrel tablets (brand names Effient and Prasugrel) are used to lower the risk of dangerous blood clots — including clots that can block a stent — in people with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), which includes unstable angina (chest pain at rest) and heart attacks (both NSTEMI and STEMI types). It is used specifically in patients who are being treated with a procedure called percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), in which a catheter is used to open a blocked coronary artery, often with a stent.

Effient has been shown to reduce the combined rate of cardiovascular death, nonfatal heart attack, or nonfatal stroke compared to clopidogrel — with the benefit driven mainly by fewer heart attacks.
