Here's the gist: Sida cordifolia naturally contains ephedrine, a stimulant that can nudge your blood sugar upward. Saxagliptin (Onglyza) works in the opposite direction, helping your body release more of its own insulin after meals to bring sugar down. So these two can work against each other, and the worry is that the supplement could blunt how well your saxagliptin controls your numbers, leaving your readings running higher than expected.

This concern is partly theoretical but backed by some clinical data on ephedrine, so it's worth taking seriously, especially since Sida supplements can be unpredictable in strength. Please don't change anything on your own. If you're using or considering this supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your home glucose readings.

Saxagliptin tablets are used to help adults with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels. It is meant to be used together with diet and exercise, either alone or alongside other diabetes medicines.

Saxagliptin tablets are not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication where the blood becomes too acidic).
