Ivabradine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Uva Ursi interacts with.

Theoretically, uva ursi may decrease the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro, uva ursi appears to inhibit CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for ivabradine (Corlanor) and uva ursi. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear ivabradine out. In a lab dish, uva ursi seemed to slow that same enzyme down. If that held true in people, less of the drug would get broken down, so more could build up in your system.

Since ivabradine works by slowing your heart rate, more of it on board could push your heart rate too low or trigger ivabradine's known quirks, like dizziness, tiredness, or those brief flashes of brightness in your vision. The important part: this is only a theoretical, test-tube finding and hasn't been seen in actual patients. I wouldn't panic, but do run it past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Uva ursi is a traditional herb used mainly for urinary tract infections, and its leaves contain a compound called arbutin that may have antimicrobial effects in the urine. Evidence in people is limited, and because high doses or long-term use may be harmful to the liver and could be toxic, it should only be used short-term and with guidance from a healthcare professional. Avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

About Ivabradine

What Is Ivabradine Used For?

Brand names: Procoralan, Coralan, Corlentor, Corlanor

Ivabradine (including the brand Corlanor) is used in adults with stable, symptomatic chronic heart failure with reduced pumping function to reduce the risk of being hospitalized for worsening heart failure. It is prescribed when the heart is beating too fast at rest and the patient is either already on the highest tolerated dose of a beta-blocker or cannot take one.

Corlanor is also approved to treat stable, symptomatic heart failure caused by dilated cardiomyopathy (an enlarged, weakened heart muscle) in children ages 6 months and older who have an elevated heart rate.
