Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Talazoparib
Talazoparib falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Uva Ursi interacts with.
In vitro, uva ursi appears to inhibit the multi-drug transporter protein, P-glycoprotein. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea: your body uses a kind of cellular pump called P-glycoprotein to move talazoparib (Talzenna) around and help clear it. In lab dish studies, uva ursi seemed to slow that pump down a bit. If the pump works slower, a little more talazoparib could theoretically hang around in your body, which might mean stronger side effects like fatigue, nausea, low blood counts, or anemia.
Now the reassuring part. This is rated as a minor, theoretical concern that has only shown up in test tubes, never in actual people. Still, talazoparib is a serious cancer medicine, so I'd run any uva ursi (or any supplement) past your oncologist or pharmacist before combining them. Please don't change your cancer treatment on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Talazoparib page
“Talazoparib (Talzenna) treats certain BRCA-mutated cancers, and with a drug doing that job I want its blood level exactly where the oncologist set it. The 54 supplements on this list mostly threaten that in one of two ways.”

About Uva Ursi
What is Uva Ursi?
- Urinary tract infections
- Urinary discomfort
- Mild diuretic
- Kidney stones
- Skin conditions
Uva ursi is a traditional herb used mainly for urinary tract infections, and its leaves contain a compound called arbutin that may have antimicrobial effects in the urine. Evidence in people is limited, and because high doses or long-term use may be harmful to the liver and could be toxic, it should only be used short-term and with guidance from a healthcare professional. Avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
