Your Capozide is already doing two things to lower your blood pressure: the captopril relaxes your blood vessels, and the hydrochlorothiazide pulls extra fluid and salt out through your urine. The concern here is that andrographis may have a mild blood pressure lowering effect of its own. Stacked on top of your medication, that could nudge your pressure a little too low.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy or lightheaded, especially when standing up quickly, or feel tired or a bit faint. I want to be honest though: this warning comes only from animal studies, so it is theoretical and not confirmed in people. It is not a reason to panic. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads up before starting andrographis, and keep an eye on your home blood pressure readings.

What Is Captopril and Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?

Brand names: Capozide, Acezide

Captopril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). The two ingredients work together to lower blood pressure more effectively than either one alone.

This combination may be started as initial therapy or substituted when a patient has already been adjusted on both ingredients separately. It is approved for patients with normal kidney function, and is used more cautiously in those with impaired kidney function.
