Ashwagandha and Betamethasone Dipropionate

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Moderate

IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS

Why this applies to Betamethasone Dipropionate

Betamethasone Dipropionate falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Ashwagandha interacts with.

Theoretically, taking ashwagandha might decrease the effects of immunosuppressants.
Ashwagandha has demonstrated immunostimulant effects in humans. Animal research has shown that ashwagandha can attenuate the immunosuppression caused by cyclophosphamide.
Severity Moderate Likelihood Possible Evidence D

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the good news about your question: the concern on file is mostly theoretical, and it matters even less for a product like Sernivo. Ashwagandha may gently rev up the immune system, which in theory could push back against medicines meant to calm immune activity. But betamethasone dipropionate is a topical steroid cream or spray you rub on a patch of skin for things like eczema or psoriasis. Very little of it gets into your bloodstream, so a whole-body herb effect isn't likely to cancel out a cream working right at the surface.

In practice, I wouldn't expect ashwagandha to make your rash or itching flare back up. The evidence here is only from lab and animal studies, so it's far from a sure thing. Still, if your skin condition isn't improving, mention the supplement to your pharmacist or doctor.
