Buproprion, Dextromethorphan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bacopa interacts with.

Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP3A4 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence suggests that bacopa extract can moderately and competitively inhibit CYP3A4, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.

Auvelity combines bupropion and dextromethorphan, and here's a neat point about that pairing: the bupropion piece is actually there on purpose to block an enzyme (CYP2D6) so the dextromethorphan sticks around and works in your brain. The interaction we have on file is different though. It deals with CYP3A4, and the idea is that bacopa might mildly slow that enzyme, which could let levels of these medicines creep up a bit.

If that happened, you might notice more of the usual effects, like jitteriness, trouble sleeping, dizziness, dry mouth, or nausea. Honestly, this is mostly theoretical, based on lab studies that even disagree with each other, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since bupropion can lower the seizure threshold, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist before adding bacopa.
