Metformin Hydrochloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Cajeput Oil interacts with.

Animal studies suggest that cajeput oil might have hypoglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking cajeput oil with antidiabetes drugs could increase the risk for additive hypoglycemia. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, and others.

Here's the gist with cajeput oil and metformin: in animal studies, compounds in this oil seemed to lower blood sugar on their own. Metformin already works to bring your sugar down, so combining the two could, in theory, push your levels a little lower than expected. That might show up as shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a fast heartbeat, or feeling unusually hungry or weak.

I want to be honest, though: this is based only on lab and animal data, so it's a theoretical concern, not something proven in people. Metformin by itself rarely causes serious lows. If you do use cajeput oil, keep an eye on your blood sugar and let your pharmacist or doctor know so they can guide you.
