Saxagliptin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Cajeput Oil interacts with.

Animal studies suggest that cajeput oil might have hypoglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking cajeput oil with antidiabetes drugs could increase the risk for additive hypoglycemia. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, and others.

Here's the gist: cajeput oil might gently nudge your blood sugar downward on its own. We only know this from lab and animal research, not from studies in people, so think of it as a possible effect rather than a proven one. Stacking that with Saxagliptin (Onglyza), which already lowers blood sugar by boosting your body's insulin after meals, could in theory add up to a bigger drop than you expect.

On its own, saxagliptin rarely causes low blood sugar, so the real-world risk here is small. Still, if you use cajeput oil and notice shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or confusion, those can signal a low. Keep an eye on your glucose readings and chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea.

Saxagliptin tablets are used to help adults with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels. It is meant to be used together with diet and exercise, either alone or alongside other diabetes medicines.

Saxagliptin tablets are not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication where the blood becomes too acidic).
