Dexfenfluramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.

Plumbagin, a constituent of Ceylon leadwort, has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) in vitro. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. Theoretically, Ceylon leadwort might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6. Some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 include amitriptyline (Elavil), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), and others.

Here's the basic idea with this pairing. Dexfenfluramine (Redux) is handled in part by a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. A compound in Ceylon Leadwort, plumbagin, has been shown in lab dish studies only to slow that enzyme down. If that held true in people, your body might clear dexfenfluramine more slowly, letting it build up a bit more than expected.

In plain terms, that could mean stronger effects or more side effects from the drug, things like headache, dry mouth, drowsiness, or jitteriness. I'll be honest though: this is purely theoretical right now, never reported in actual patients, so I don't want to alarm you. Worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, just to be safe.
