Why this applies to Etoricoxib

Etoricoxib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.

Plumbagin, a constituent of Ceylon leadwort, has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) in vitro. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. Theoretically, Ceylon leadwort might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4. Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), clarithromycin (Biaxin), indinavir (Crixivan), sildenafil (Viagra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the gist for etoricoxib (Arcoxia): your body relies partly on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear it out. In lab tests (not in actual people yet), the plumbagin in Ceylon Leadwort slowed that enzyme down. If the same thing happened in your body, etoricoxib could clear more slowly and build up a bit higher than expected.

With this drug, more buildup usually means a higher chance of its typical side effects, like stomach upset, fluid retention, raised blood pressure, and added strain on the kidneys or heart. I want to be honest though, this is theoretical and based only on test-tube data, so the real risk in people is uncertain. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
