Here's the simple version: Tasimelteon (Hetlioz) is a sleep medication that works like your body's natural melatonin to help you fall and stay asleep. Jackfruit, especially the seeds, has shown a calming or sleepy effect in animal studies. So the worry here is just a little bit of overlap, where the two together might make you feel a touch more drowsy, groggy, or slow to wake up.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It's theoretical and based on animal research, not real human cases, so it's nothing to lose sleep over. Eating jackfruit as a normal food is very unlikely to cause a problem. Concentrated seed products are a bit more of a question mark. If you use those, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Tasimelteon Used For?

Brand names: Hetlioz, Hetlioz Lq

Tasimelteon capsules are approved to treat Non-24-Hour Sleep-Wake Disorder (Non-24) in adults. Non-24 is a condition where the body's internal clock does not align with the normal 24-hour day, causing sleep and wake times to shift continuously.

Hetlioz capsules are also approved to treat nighttime sleep disturbances in Smith-Magenis Syndrome (SMS) in patients 16 years of age and older. Hetlioz LQ oral suspension is approved specifically for nighttime sleep disturbances in SMS in pediatric patients ages 3 to 15 years.
