Here's the gist with Simponi Aria (golimumab) and lychee. Golimumab is a biologic that calms an overactive immune system to ease joint pain and swelling in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. In lab dishes, certain plant compounds (flavonoids) from lychee seem to do the opposite, gently nudging immune activity up. In theory, that could work against what golimumab is trying to do and make it slightly less effective.

I want to be honest about how thin this is. It's a theoretical idea from test-tube studies only, never seen in real patients, and rated minor. Eating lychee fruit as a normal food is very unlikely to cause trouble. I'd just be more cautious with concentrated lychee extracts, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting one.

What Is Golimumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Simponi Aria

Golimumab injection is used to treat several inflammatory conditions. Simponi (subcutaneous) is approved for adults with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis (in combination with methotrexate), active psoriatic arthritis, active ankylosing spondylitis, and moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in adults and pediatric patients weighing at least 15 kg.

Simponi Aria (intravenous) is used for adults with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis. Both products target the same inflammation pathway but are given by different routes and are each approved for specific conditions — they are not interchangeable across all uses.
