Moringa + Armodafinil
Armodafinil brand name: Nuvigil.
Armodafinil falls into 2 drug categories that Moringa can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, moringa might increase or decrease levels of CYP3A4 substrates.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Moringa interacts with whole categories of medication. Armodafinil falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Moringa in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Armodafinil
Armodafinil falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Moringa interacts with.
Some in vitro research suggests that moringa inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). However, other in vitro research suggests that moringa extract induces CYP3A4 enzymes. A pharmacokinetic study in patients with HIV shows no change in the pharmacokinetics of nevirapine, which is partially metabolized by CYP3A4, when administered concomitantly with moringa leaf powder 1.85 grams daily for 14 days.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the situation with moringa and armodafinil (Nuvigil). Your liver partly uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break armodafinil down. Moringa might nudge that enzyme, but the research is genuinely mixed. Some lab studies suggest it slows CYP3A4 (which could let armodafinil build up, meaning more jitteriness, headache, trouble sleeping, or a racing heart), while other lab work suggests it speeds the enzyme up (which could make armodafinil clear faster and feel less effective).
The honest truth is this is theoretical, based on test-tube studies, and one human study with a similar drug showed no real change. Food-sized amounts of moringa are unlikely to matter; concentrated supplements are the bigger question. Run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Armodafinil also falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that moringa leaf extract inhibits renal P-glycoprotein transport activity. So far, this reaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: moringa leaf extract may block a transporter called P-glycoprotein, which helps move certain drugs out of your body. Armodafinil (Nuvigil) is one of the medicines that can travel through this pathway. In theory, if moringa slows that exit route, a bit more armodafinil could hang around, which might make its effects stronger. With armodafinil that could mean more headache, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, a faster heartbeat, or feeling on edge.
I want to be honest about how shaky this is, though. This concern comes only from lab (test tube) studies, not from real people, and it has never actually been reported in humans. So the risk is mostly theoretical. Everyday food amounts of moringa are unlikely to matter much; concentrated supplement doses are the bigger question mark. If you'd like to use both, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

About Moringa
What is Moringa?
- Nutritional supplement
- Blood sugar support
- Cholesterol support
- Inflammation
- Skin conditions
Moringa is a nutrient-rich plant whose leaves are widely used as a food and supplement, especially in parts of the world where malnutrition is common. Early research hints at possible benefits for blood sugar, cholesterol, and inflammation, but the human evidence is limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using moringa, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications.
About Armodafinil
What Is Armodafinil Used For?
Brand name: Nuvigil
Armodafinil tablets (including the brand Nuvigil) are used to improve wakefulness in adults who have excessive sleepiness linked to one of three conditions: obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), narcolepsy, or shift work disorder (SWD).
In obstructive sleep apnea, armodafinil treats the sleepiness itself — not the underlying airway obstruction. If CPAP (a breathing device worn during sleep) is the right treatment for you, your doctor should try that first before adding armodafinil for sleepiness.

Armodafinil Is Linked to Lower Levels of 3 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Armodafinil as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Moringa — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
