Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the piece worth knowing in this combo. Theophylline is the part of this product that depends on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to be broken down. In lab and animal studies, moringa seems to speed up that enzyme. If that held true in people, your body could clear theophylline a bit faster, which might lower its level and make it work less well for opening up your airways. Since theophylline already has a narrow safe range, even small shifts can matter.

The good news: this is only theoretical, based on test-tube and animal data, so we don't know it happens in real life. Food amounts of moringa are unlikely to be a problem, but before adding a concentrated supplement, please check with your pharmacist or doctor.

About Moringa

What is Moringa?

  • Nutritional supplement
  • Blood sugar support
  • Cholesterol support
  • Inflammation
  • Skin conditions

Moringa is a nutrient-rich plant whose leaves are widely used as a food and supplement, especially in parts of the world where malnutrition is common. Early research hints at possible benefits for blood sugar, cholesterol, and inflammation, but the human evidence is limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using moringa, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications.
