Darunavir, Cobicistat falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Moringa interacts with.

Theoretically, moringa might increase or decrease levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
Some in vitro research suggests that moringa inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). However, other in vitro research suggests that moringa extract induces CYP3A4 enzymes. A pharmacokinetic study in patients with HIV shows no change in the pharmacokinetics of nevirapine, which is partially metabolized by CYP3A4, when administered concomitantly with moringa leaf powder 1.85 grams daily for 14 days.

Here's the situation with your HIV combo, Prezcobix (darunavir plus cobicistat). Both pieces of this medicine rely on the liver enzyme CYP3A4. Cobicistat is actually there on purpose to block that enzyme and keep darunavir levels high enough to work. Moringa, in lab dish studies only, has pulled in both directions: some research says it slows CYP3A4, other research says it speeds it up. We honestly don't have solid human data here for this drug.

So the real concern is unpredictability. If moringa nudged your levels down, the worry is less virus control over time. If it pushed them up, you might see more side effects like diarrhea, nausea, or rash. Because keeping HIV medicine steady really matters, please don't add moringa supplements without checking with your pharmacist or HIV doctor first. Food amounts in a meal are far less likely to matter than concentrated supplement doses.

About Darunavir and Cobicistat

What Is Darunavir and Cobicistat Used For?

Brand name: Prezcobix

Prezcobix and Prezcobix Ped are used to treat HIV-1 (the virus that causes AIDS) in adults and children 3 years of age and older who weigh at least 15 kg (about 33 lbs). They are always used together with other HIV medications — never alone. They are approved for people who are new to HIV treatment (treatment-naïve) as well as those who have taken HIV medicines before (treatment-experienced), as long as their virus does not have certain darunavir resistance mutations.

Prezcobix is specifically approved for adults and pediatric patients weighing at least 40 kg. Prezcobix Ped is available for smaller pediatric patients aged 3 and older weighing at least 15 kg. The right product and dose depend on the patient's weight and their ability to swallow tablets.
