Moringa + Midostaurin
Midostaurin brand name: Rydapt.
Moringa has a moderate interaction with Midostaurin. Theoretically, moringa might increase or decrease levels of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Midostaurin
Midostaurin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Moringa interacts with.
Some in vitro research suggests that moringa inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). However, other in vitro research suggests that moringa extract induces CYP3A4 enzymes. A pharmacokinetic study in patients with HIV shows no change in the pharmacokinetics of nevirapine, which is partially metabolized by CYP3A4, when administered concomitantly with moringa leaf powder 1.85 grams daily for 14 days.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version on combining moringa with midostaurin (Rydapt). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break midostaurin down, and lab studies suggest moringa might tweak that same enzyme. The catch is that the research pulls in both directions: some test-tube data say moringa slows CYP3A4 (which could let midostaurin build up and raise the chance of side effects like nausea, mouth sores, low blood counts, or QT changes), while other data say it speeds the enzyme up (which could lower midostaurin levels and weaken its cancer-fighting effect).
This is all theoretical, based only on lab and animal work, so don't panic. But since midostaurin treats serious cancers, please run any moringa supplement past your oncology team or pharmacist before starting.

Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Midostaurin page
“Midostaurin (Rydapt) treats certain leukemias and mast cell disorders, and because it is a targeted cancer drug, keeping its blood level where it belongs matters enough that I would read this list carefully before adding any supplement. Almost every entry works through one liver enzyme, CYP3A4, the pathway that clears midostaurin.”

About Moringa
What is Moringa?
- Nutritional supplement
- Blood sugar support
- Cholesterol support
- Inflammation
- Skin conditions
Moringa is a nutrient-rich plant whose leaves are widely used as a food and supplement, especially in parts of the world where malnutrition is common. Early research hints at possible benefits for blood sugar, cholesterol, and inflammation, but the human evidence is limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using moringa, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications.
About Midostaurin
What Is Midostaurin Used For?
Brand name: Rydapt
-
Midostaurin is used with other chemotherapy drugs to treat certain types of acute myeloid leukemia (AML; a type of cancer of the white blood cells). Midostaurin is also used to certain types of mastocytosis (a blood disorder in which there are too many mast cells [a certain kind of white blood cell]). Midostaurin is in a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps stop the spread of mast and cancer cells.
