Why this applies to Pemigatinib

Pemigatinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Moringa interacts with.

Theoretically, moringa might increase or decrease levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
Some in vitro research suggests that moringa inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). However, other in vitro research suggests that moringa extract induces CYP3A4 enzymes. A pharmacokinetic study in patients with HIV shows no change in the pharmacokinetics of nevirapine, which is partially metabolized by CYP3A4, when administered concomitantly with moringa leaf powder 1.85 grams daily for 14 days.

Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear pemigatinib (Pemazyre) from your system. Moringa has shown mixed signals in lab tests: some suggest it slows this enzyme down, others suggest it speeds it up. If moringa slowed the enzyme, pemigatinib could build up and bring stronger side effects like mouth sores, dry eyes, nail or skin changes, fatigue, diarrhea, or high phosphate levels. If it sped the enzyme up, pemigatinib might clear faster and not work as well against your cancer.

Honestly, this concern comes only from test-tube and animal data, and one small human study showed no real effect on a similar drug. Still, since pemigatinib is a serious cancer treatment, please run any moringa supplement by your oncology team or pharmacist first.

About Pemigatinib

What Is Pemigatinib Used For?

Brand name: Pemazyre

Pemazyre (pemigatinib) is used to treat adults with a type of bile duct cancer called cholangiocarcinoma that cannot be surgically removed (locally advanced or metastatic) and has already been treated with at least one prior therapy. It is only for tumors that carry a specific gene change — an FGFR2 fusion or rearrangement — confirmed by an FDA-approved test. This approval is based on tumor response rates, and further studies are underway to confirm long-term benefit.

Pemazyre is also used to treat adults with relapsed or refractory myeloid/lymphoid neoplasms (MLNs) — blood or lymph system cancers that have stopped responding to or come back after prior treatment — when those cancers carry an FGFR1 rearrangement gene change.
