Moringa + Ubrogepant
Ubrogepant brand name: Ubrelvy.
Ubrogepant falls into 2 drug categories that Moringa can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, moringa might increase or decrease levels of CYP3A4 substrates.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Moringa interacts with whole categories of medication. Ubrogepant falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Moringa in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Ubrogepant
Ubrogepant falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Moringa interacts with.
Some in vitro research suggests that moringa inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). However, other in vitro research suggests that moringa extract induces CYP3A4 enzymes. A pharmacokinetic study in patients with HIV shows no change in the pharmacokinetics of nevirapine, which is partially metabolized by CYP3A4, when administered concomitantly with moringa leaf powder 1.85 grams daily for 14 days.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version: your body clears Ubrelvy (ubrogepant) mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and moringa might nudge that enzyme in either direction. Ubrogepant is the active drug itself, not a prodrug, so if moringa slows CYP3A4 down, more drug could linger and you might notice more nausea, sleepiness, or dry mouth. If moringa instead speeds the enzyme up, the medicine could wear off faster and give you less migraine relief.
The honest truth is that this is based on lab dishes, not people, and the one human study showed no real change. So I wouldn't lose sleep over an occasional moringa tea or food amounts. If you're taking concentrated moringa capsules daily, just give your pharmacist or doctor a quick heads-up.

P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Ubrogepant also falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that moringa leaf extract inhibits renal P-glycoprotein transport activity. So far, this reaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version with Ubrelvy (ubrogepant): one of the ways your body moves this migraine drug around is a transporter called P-glycoprotein. Lab studies suggest moringa leaf extract can block that transporter. If that blocking happened in a person, ubrogepant could hang around at slightly higher levels, which might mean a stronger dose effect and more of its usual side effects, things like nausea, sleepiness, or dry mouth.
I want to be honest about how soft this is. So far this has only been seen in test-tube research, never reported in actual people, so it's more of a theoretical heads-up than a proven problem. A sprinkle of moringa as food likely matters far less than concentrated capsules. Before pairing them regularly, run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ubrogepant page
“Ubrogepant (Ubrelvy) is a tablet you take when a migraine hits, and it is cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, which is exactly where most of these 144 supplements interfere. This list deserves real attention.”

About Moringa
What is Moringa?
- Nutritional supplement
- Blood sugar support
- Cholesterol support
- Inflammation
- Skin conditions
Moringa is a nutrient-rich plant whose leaves are widely used as a food and supplement, especially in parts of the world where malnutrition is common. Early research hints at possible benefits for blood sugar, cholesterol, and inflammation, but the human evidence is limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using moringa, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications.
