Propylthiouracil, PTU falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Ostarine interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use with hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of adverse hepatotoxic effects.
Some clinical research shows that ostarine can increase alanine aminotransferase, a marker of liver damage, in some patients. Additionally, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warns that supplements containing SARMs, such as ostarine, have been associated with reports of liver toxicity and there are at least two reports of drug-induced liver injury attributed to the use of ostarine.

Here's the concern with pairing these two. Propylthiouracil (PTU) is already known to be hard on the liver. It carries a warning about rare but serious liver injury on its own. Ostarine, a SARM, has also been linked to liver damage, including rising liver enzymes (like ALT) and a couple of reported cases of drug-induced liver injury.

When you stack two things that can each stress the liver, you may raise the combined risk. Watch for warning signs such as yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, unusual tiredness, or nausea. This caution is based on theory and how these substances behave, not strong head-to-head studies. Ostarine isn't FDA-approved, so the safest move is to talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it.

It is not approved by the FDA, is banned in sports, and has been linked to liver injury and other serious harms, so it is not recommended for general use.

What Is Propylthiouracil Used For?

Brand name: Propylthiouracil

Propylthiouracil tablets are used to treat hyperthyroidism — a condition where the thyroid gland produces too much hormone. It is specifically approved for patients with Graves' disease or toxic multinodular goiter who cannot tolerate methimazole and for whom surgery or radioactive iodine therapy is not a suitable option.

Propylthiouracil is also used to reduce hyperthyroid symptoms before a patient undergoes thyroid surgery (thyroidectomy) or radioactive iodine therapy, again in patients who cannot tolerate methimazole. It may also be the preferred antithyroid drug during or just before the first trimester of pregnancy.
