Why this applies to Nifedipine

Nifedipine falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Ostarine interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use with hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of adverse hepatotoxic effects.
Some clinical research shows that ostarine can increase alanine aminotransferase, a marker of liver damage, in some patients. Additionally, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warns that supplements containing SARMs, such as ostarine, have been associated with reports of liver toxicity and there are at least two reports of drug-induced liver injury attributed to the use of ostarine.

Here's the concern with pairing Ostarine and nifedipine: it isn't about one changing how the other works in your blood vessels. It's about your liver. Nifedipine, like many medications, is processed by the liver, and on rare occasions it can stress that organ. Ostarine has its own track record of raising liver enzymes (ALT) and has been tied to real cases of liver injury, which is why the FDA has flagged SARMs like this one.

So the worry is simply additive: two things that can each tax the liver, used together, may add up. This is a theoretical link based on how each behaves, not proven for this exact combo, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, since Ostarine is an unapproved product I'd steer clear of anyway, please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before mixing them.

Nifedipine also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) INHIBITORS.

Theoretically, concomitant use of ostarine with CYP3A4 inhibitors could increase the effects and adverse effects of ostarine, although this is unlikely to be clinically significant.
Ostarine is partially metabolized by CYP3A4. However, clinical research shows that taking itraconazole, a potent inhibitor of CYP3A4, had minimal effects on the levels of ostarine in the body.

Here's the gist of it. Nifedipine, which you're taking for blood pressure or chest pain, can gently slow down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Ostarine happens to be broken down in part by that same enzyme. So in theory, pairing them could let a little more Ostarine linger in your body and slightly bump up its effects and side effects.

The good news is this is mostly a paper concern. In actual studies, even a much stronger CYP3A4 blocker barely moved Ostarine levels, so nifedipine's milder effect is unlikely to matter much. The bigger worry is Ostarine itself, since it's an unapproved SARM tied to liver injury and isn't recommended for general use. Please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining anything with it.

Brand names: Procardia XL, Adalat PA, Adalat, Nifedin, Nifed PA, Nifed, Procardia, Adalat XL, Adalat CC, Adalat LA, Adalat Retard, Adipine MR, Adipine XL, Cardilate MR, Coracten SR, Coracten XL, Fortipine LA 40, Hypolar Retard 20, Nifedipress MR, Nifopress Retard, Tensipine MR

Nifedipine treats high blood pressure (hypertension), chronic stable angina (chest pain brought on by physical effort), and vasospastic angina (chest pain caused by spasm of the coronary arteries, sometimes called Prinzmetal's angina). Lowering blood pressure with nifedipine helps reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks.

The capsule form is approved for vasospastic angina and chronic stable angina only — it is not approved for high blood pressure. The extended-release tablet (including Procardia) covers all three uses: vasospastic angina, chronic stable angina, and high blood pressure.
