Why this applies to Fluvastatin

Fluvastatin falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Ostarine interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use with hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of adverse hepatotoxic effects.
Some clinical research shows that ostarine can increase alanine aminotransferase, a marker of liver damage, in some patients. Additionally, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warns that supplements containing SARMs, such as ostarine, have been associated with reports of liver toxicity and there are at least two reports of drug-induced liver injury attributed to the use of ostarine.

Here's the concern with pairing these two: both fluvastatin and Ostarine can be tough on the liver. Statins like fluvastatin occasionally raise liver enzymes, and Ostarine has been tied to reports of liver injury, including bumps in ALT (a marker that signals liver stress). Put them together and you may be stacking two liver stressors on top of each other.

To be fair, this is a theoretical worry based on how each one behaves, not proof that combining them will hurt you. Still, with Ostarine being an unapproved SARM that the FDA has flagged for liver toxicity, I'd be cautious. Watch for signs like yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist before mixing them.

Fluvastatin also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES.

Theoretically, ostarine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9, although clinical research suggests this is not clinically relevant.
Although in vitro research suggests that ostarine inhibits CYP2C9, more robust clinical research shows that ostarine does not significantly affect CYP2C9.

Here's the short version for these two together. Your body clears fluvastatin largely through a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. In a test tube, Ostarine looked like it might slow that enzyme down, which in theory could let fluvastatin build up and raise the odds of side effects like muscle aches, weakness, or stomach upset. But when this was actually studied in people, Ostarine didn't meaningfully change how CYP2C9 works, so this concern stays mostly theoretical.

Honestly, my bigger worry isn't the interaction at all. Ostarine is an unapproved SARM that's been tied to liver injury on its own, and fluvastatin can also affect the liver. Stacking two liver stressors isn't a great idea. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

It is not approved by the FDA, is banned in sports, and has been linked to liver injury and other serious harms, so it is not recommended for general use.

About Fluvastatin

What Is Fluvastatin Used For?

Brand names: Lescol, Lescol XL

Fluvastatin capsules are used alongside diet to lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and apolipoprotein B, and to raise HDL cholesterol in adults with primary hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol) or mixed dyslipidemia (abnormal cholesterol and triglyceride levels). Fluvastatin capsules are also used in boys and girls aged 10–16 who have heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (an inherited form of high cholesterol) when diet alone has not worked. In adults with clinically evident coronary heart disease (CHD), fluvastatin capsules may reduce the risk of needing a coronary revascularization procedure (a procedure to restore blood flow, such as angioplasty) and can slow the progression of coronary atherosclerosis (plaque buildup in heart arteries).

Fluvastatin sodium extended-release tablets and Lescol XL (extended-release tablet) share similar uses: reducing LDL cholesterol in adults with primary hyperlipidemia, reducing LDL in adults and children aged 10 and older with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia who require the highest available dose, and reducing cardiovascular risk in adults with established coronary heart disease. Fluvastatin is always used together with a cholesterol-lowering diet, not as a replacement for one.
