Here's what's going on with this pairing. Puravive contains Panax ginseng, and your long-acting paliperidone shot (Invega Trinza) is one of those antipsychotics that can stretch out the heart's electrical reset time, something we call the QT interval. The concern is that ginseng might add to that effect, which in theory could raise the odds of an irregular heartbeat.

I want to be straight with you though: the evidence here is mixed and fairly weak. Some short-term studies showed a small QT bump from ginseng, while longer use showed no change. Still, since your paliperidone stays in your body for months after each injection, it's worth a quick chat with your doctor or pharmacist before starting Puravive, especially if you have heart issues or take other QT-affecting meds.

Paliperidone injection is used to treat schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder in adults. Different branded products are approved for specific treatment situations.

Invega Sustenna (once-monthly injection) treats both schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. Invega Trinza (every-three-month injection) and Invega Hafyera (every-six-month injection) treat schizophrenia in adults who have already been stabilized on a paliperidone palmitate injectable. Erzofri extended-release is a once-monthly injectable for schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder in adults.
