Amitriptyline falls under QT INTERVAL-PROLONGING DRUGS — the group Sida Cordifolia interacts with.

Here's the concern with pairing Sida cordifolia and amitriptyline. Amitriptyline by itself can stretch out the heart's electrical reset time, something doctors call the QT interval. Sida cordifolia contains ephedrine, a stimulant that can do the same thing on its own. Put them together and those effects may stack up, which in rare cases can lead to a dangerous irregular heartbeat.

This isn't a question of one drug breaking the other down. It's two heart-stressing effects adding to each other. The evidence here is mostly theoretical and based on the ephedrine in this plant, but because the risk involves the heart, I'd take it seriously. Please don't start or stop anything on your own. Check with your pharmacist or doctor first, especially if you ever feel dizzy, faint, or notice a racing or fluttering heartbeat.
