Pexidartinib Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Uva Ursi interacts with.

Theoretically, uva ursi may decrease the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro, uva ursi appears to inhibit CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Turalio (pexidartinib). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear this drug out. In lab dish studies, uva ursi seems to slow that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, pexidartinib could build up to higher levels than expected, which may mean more side effects like nausea, fatigue, hair color changes, swelling, or stress on the liver.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. So far this is only seen in test-tube studies, not in actual people, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Since pexidartinib already carries real liver risks of its own, and uva ursi can also be hard on the liver, I'd run this combination past your oncologist or pharmacist before mixing them.

Theoretically, uva ursi may increase levels of drugs metabolized by glucuronidation.
In vitro, uva ursi extract appears to strongly inhibit UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) 1A1 (UGT1A1). However, uva ursi extract does not appear to inhibit UGT1A1 in animal models. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the idea behind this pairing. Your body partly clears pexidartinib by attaching a sugar molecule to it (a process called glucuronidation, handled by an enzyme known as UGT1A1). In a test-tube study, uva ursi seemed to slow that enzyme down. If that were to happen in people, pexidartinib could build up and you might see more of its known side effects, things like liver problems, nausea, fatigue, swelling, hair color changes, or altered taste.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. So far it's only been seen in lab dishes, not in animals and not in actual patients, so it's largely theoretical. That said, pexidartinib already carries a real risk of liver injury, and uva ursi itself can stress the liver, so I'd play it safe. Please check with your oncology team or pharmacist before combining them.
